Trails....... |
| Trails are officially "Open" on December 1, 2007 |
| 12/5/07 |
Not currently |
| Several clubs in our area are not grooming because of the lack of snow and the icy conditions on the trails. |
| 3/24/06 |
Enjoy but please be safe... |
The trails are groomed and the snowmobilers are reporting "good" trail conditions. Please ride safe, keep to the right, use your hand signals, and adhere to the speed limit. |
| 3/4/06 |
We are grooming but... |
| be careful out there. We need more snow... we did manage to get about 4" total here in Effie this week which helped. |
| 2/3/06 |
Trails Are Open |
As of today the trails and gates are open. We have about 4" of snow. One of our groomers will be heading north from the clubhouse in Marcell, hopefully today, and will be panning, not grooming all the way up to Effie. Barry has been out a couple of times on his sled and commented to me that we need riders on the trails to pack it down, but caution must be keep in mind, as the trees have been heavily taxed by the last rain/ice/snow storm and are hanging. There is some open water spots also. Hopefully with the colds temps we are experiencing, that problem will be eliminated. Until next time... be safe, stay right and use your hand signals, but utmost, respect private property please. Linda Pigman |

Groomers Resting |
The groomers were put away for the summer yesterday. Trails officially closed today April 1, 2005. Private landowners on the trail system are putting up their gates, getting ready for the "pasturing out" season. We want to say "thank you" to all of the landowners and businesses that accommodated our club's trail system. It is greatly appreciated. Until next snowmobile season... take care and have a wonderful summer! Linda Pigman, reporting |

We're still grooming |
| Yes, we are still grooming and the trails are in pretty good shape. Don't know how much longer though. They are predicting snow for this week which could improve the conditions, but you know how that can change as we are suppose to be in the mid 30's for temps. March can be unpredictable as we all know. I'll keep ya posted.... |

Still Groomin' |
Snowdrifters Trail Condition
The warm weather was tough on the snow, however, we had enough base so that we didn’t lose it all. Our trails are still able to accept some grooming. There will be some icy spots and possibly some small bare spots. Three areas have been hit hard by logging operations they are the Bigfork Lions Trail, the Cameron Trail and now the Wilderness Willie, be prepared for some dirt. Outside of these three areas the trails should be in good riding condition. We are grooming six nights a week in an attempt to keep them that way. Keep your speed down and the trails should be good for everybody. Excessive speed will degrade trails quickly.
Snowdrifters trails: Bowstring to hwy #35, Cameron West, Marcell South, Marcell North, Spider Lake Spur, Talmoon Spur, Bigfork Lions, Effie Connection, Wilderness Willie
Have fun, ride safe

Marcell Snowdrifters Trail Report
2/11/05
North trails, Wilderness Willie, Effie Connection, Bigfork Lions, 1/2 Marcell, should all be in good condition, There will, however, be some icy spots use caution and your ride should be smooth. Southern trails, Cameron, 1/2 Marcell, Bowstring, will be fair to good with some icy spots. Watch it on the corners. Our DX was broken again this past week. It is fixed now and trails in the south was done last night/early this morning. Grooming may not work well in icy areas, so be prepared to slow down. The MNUSA winter rendevous is this weekend at Rutgers on Sugar Lake so trails may be more heavily traveled. Heavy use will cause them to degrade faster.
CAUTION pronounced CAW SHUN MEANS THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE READY TO SLOW DOWN
Have fun, ride safe Marcell Snowdrifters

Trail Report |
This weeks warm weather has had a negative effect on grooming and trails. We are grooming six nights this week in an attempt to keep the trails in good condition. Our more heavily used trails Marcell and Cameron will get extra attention with a Saturday night pass. Your best snowmobiling will be on the lesser used trails Wilderness Willie and Effie connection. The Bowstring Trail is not as heavily used as in the past because there are few "destinations" along it except for Riley’s. We have had more snow in this area than to the north or south so our trails might hhold up better. I will rate them GOOD but not excellent for this weekend. If it stays warm they will degrade fast. Early sledders will get the best trails. Have fun ride safe. Chuck Ogee, President |

They're Groomed |
Trails were groomed last night. Kermit Linder took the new John Deere out for the first time. Thanks Kermit!
Our Club President Chuck Ogee has this to report...
"Greetings,
The following trails groomed by the Marcell Snowdrifters are rated excellent for this weekend: Bowstring Trail, Talmoon Spur, Marcell Trail, Spider Lake Spur, Cameron Trail, Bigfork Lions Trail, Effie Connection, Wilderness Willie Trail.
Marcell and Cameron trails will be regroomed on Saturday night as they should take quite a pounding over the weekend.
CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION
There is a layer of ice under the snow. If the trails are used hard this ice will be exposed on the corners. Slow down and take extra care on ALL corners. Please ride safe.

Trails are groomed |
Hope you enjoy them.
Be safe and keep right.
And also, think about becoming a member of a snowmobile club, it's greatly appreciated as it takes funds/people to maintain the trails.
Thank you. |

Just waitin |
With the rain and sleet we received yesterday, it basically knocked down alot of our snow that we did have, BUT.... snow is being forcasted for the next 2 days. As of right now.. 12:45 p.m., they are predicting 6". We will see. And the groomers are scheduled to go out tomorrow. Barry is working on our new groomer as I report. It's huge! Bearly fits in the shop bay. Just took a picture of it so when the film is developed I will get it posted for all to see. Will keep you posted. Think snow, stay right and have a Safe New Year from the Marcell Snowdrifters!

Not as of yet. |
| Barry braved the trails last night from Effie to Bigfork to pack the little snow down that we do have on the ground before we run the new groomer up north to our house. Some beaver ponds are NOT froze over completely yet. Use caution for you anxious riders! Will keep you posted and happy holidays everyone!

Report from the President |
Marcell Snowdrifters Trail Conditions 1/21/04
There is enough snow on the ground so that grooming will rate the trails as good to excellent until they get heavy use. Last weekend we estimate that there were over a thousand sleds using the trails. Even with fresh grooming the trails degrade fast. Those that use the trails earlier will have the best going. By late Saturday into Sunday the heavier used trails will be fair to good.
Bowstring Trail: Good to excellent early degrading to good late. This trail is not being used as much this year as there is few stops along the way. Take along a picnic lunch.
Talmoon Spur: Not groomed should be bumpy but ok.
Marcell Trail South: Good to excellent early, low ground should be smoothing out.
Cameron Lake Trail: Good to excellent should hold up well. The Swampsiders groom the other end of this trail and they have kept it in excellent shape.
Bigfork Lions Trail: Good to excellent.
Effie Connection: Good to excellent. Stay on the trail.
Wilderness Willie: Good to excellent. There is some logging being done on one part of this trail but grooming should smooth the area out soon. Keep your eye on the trail markers and you should have no problem.
We have had some landowner complaints about people going off the trail and through private property. Please stay on the trail, if we loose landowner support we will have to fine a new route, not easy. Have fun and ride safe. Chuck Ogee

"Nice Trails" can be heard up here |
Kermit just got back with the groomer. Said he has had a lot of compliments on the trail conditions in our area. I have talked with a lot of riders and they all say the same. And as always...Please try and keep in the back of your mind to always ride safe. Watch the weather conditions for up here which will determine if some spots (like our famous beaver pond) are froze or not. "let's keep it a safe new year" Linda Pigman reporting |

Trails are Groomed but.... |
CAUTION needs to be taken. The trails are groomed in the Edge of the Wilderness area BUT there are some bad spots.... beaver ponds that have not frozen over yet. The trails need to be packed down so with your help as sledders, that can be taken care of. Just remember to stay right, ride the proper speed, heed the signs posted and be safe. Oh, and use your had signals please. Happy Holidays to all of you from the Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club! |

December 1 the trails open. |
Even though we have snow, the trails aren't open yet. That means the private landowners gates might be across some of the trails and please respect their property. Thank you. |

Groomers out today... |
We got a couple of inches of snow yesterday and the groomer went out early this morning. I also had an email yesterday from a snowmobile enthusiast that I would like to share:
just to drop a line, we were up there last weekend and thought the trails were nothing short of superb. There may not have been a lot of snow, but what the groomers were able to do with what they had is amazing. We did 60mile Fri nite, 247 Saturday and 40 Sunday AM.
Planning on being back in two weeks. I think I found my new favorite place to ride!

Groomer was out... |
| Kermit just got in with the groomer after 2 days of grooming. He reported that the weeds & cattails are down now, the trails groomed really nice, we need snow, the Circle T trails had not been groomed (which is northeast of our trails), there were alot of trees down in the Scenic State Park area that he removed (so ride safe), but they are in good shape now. |
| 2/6/03 |
Panned the trails yesterday... |
but they are in tough shape as we need SNOW!
Anybody got any extra just laying around that you could send us? |
| 12/31/02 |
Yes, we have snow, and the trails open today, and. |
as I look out the window at the falling snow, the groomer is parked in our yard, but there isn't enough snow to groom yet. Key word "Yet". I'll keep you posted. Linda Pigman reporting. |
| 12/01/02 |
Yes, we were out there |
| That's right.... our groomers have been out and running for the last couple of days. We had a nice amount of snowfall over the weekend, around 10" total, but now today they are forcasting rain, so, as I always safe, stay right and be safe. (P.S. it seems weird to actually be reporting on snowfall and the opportunity to groom, not pan, but groom finally.) |

Grooming? |
A disussion was held this morning between the President and the Trail Coordinator for the club. We received 3" of snow in the Effie area and so far the trails have a nice layer on them. There are reports of more snow coming in tonight with gusty winds for towmorrow (Saturday). Tentative grooming plans are for Sunday, but that does depend on the weather and we all know how that can change at the drop of a hat. What we really need is for you snowmobile enthusiasts to pack down the existing snow that is currently on the trails. I will keep you posted when more information comes in. Happy sledding, be safe, stay right. |
| 3/8/02 |
Panning |
| Both of our groomers were out panning today, the trails are rough because we need more snow, so be careful. Stay right and be safe. |
| 1/30/02 |
No Change |
| Still the same report. THINK SNOW please. |
| 1/22/02 |
We have snow |
| Here's your first and latest trail update. We have finally gotten the colder temps to freeze up our creeks and trail before the snow hit. We will start grooming next week. The trails have been prepared, removal of brush and trees, signs are up. Please feel free to contact us if you come across a problem area. Remember to stay right and ride safe. |
| 12/28/01 |
Much appreciated snowfall |
With the recent (approximately 12") snowfall received in the last two days, our groomers will be out tonight making the trails conditions excellent for riding! Ride safe...stay right, and be aware of the groomers out there tonight while riding.
Just had a couple of sledders visiting this morning saying that the Wilderness Willie Trail was dynomito!

Ride them Trails! |
Trails are in great shape! We have had enough snowfall to work with and fill in those corners. Remember, ride safe and stay right! Happy sleddin'!! |
| 2/15/01 |
Trails in Excellent Condition |
| Trails are freshly groomed and now we received 1-2" of fresh snow (day/night before last) and reports are there is an Alberta Clipper moving in. For those of you who do not know what an Alberta Clipper is... it is a snow squall/front moving in from Cananda. Sometimes they can produce a lot of snow! He ha! |
| 1/31/01 |
Excellent are the reports |
"Trails are freshly groomed and status remains 'good'", reports Trail Coordinator Barry Pigman.
I overheard a group of sledders passing through our area from Wisconsin to North Dakota and on their way back to Wisconsin, say trails are great and having a good time.
Keep up the great job groomers, reports are fantastic! Linda Pigman reporting |

Trails Upgraded to "GOOD" Overall |
I went riding yesterday for the first time this winter season and the trails are in such wonderful shape.... I am not even one bit sore today. Not bad for a 45 woman. Linda Pigman...club reporter. |
| 1-19-01 |
Update |
| Trails saw great use over the holiday break. Sledders were very pleased with the trail conditions. Trails are freshly groomed and remain in "fair to good" condition. Additional snow needed in some areas to upgrade overall trail condition to "good".

Trails Ready To Ride! |
Report issued by Trail Coordinator Barry Pigman: "Trails are fully groomed with a 6" to 10" base. Riding conditions are good overall. Looking forward to a few more inches of fresh snow!"
Trails included: Wilderness Willie, Effie Connection, Bigfork Lions, Marcell, Cameron and Bowstring. |

Winter Storm Watch today!!!!!! |
Yes, folks that's right! I have heard 6-12" with high winds! As of this date, Barry, the Trail Coordinator is a smilin' and reports........ Groomers have been over the trails once. Overall trail conditions are fair. Waiting for more snow and always remember: ride with caution, base is thin (as of 10 a.m. in Effie) |
| 12/15/00 |
Grooming Begins!!! |
Just in from Barry Pigman, Trail Coordinator for Marcell Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club.... that's right folks, the grooming begins on the trails starting Monday, December 11, reports Linda Pigman.
"There is adequate snow conditions for grooming and the grooming begins on Monday, December 11. There are isolated areas where frost conditions may not permit grooming and the trails should be very rideable by mid week, we are anticipating", stated Barry on Saturday, December 9. |
| 12/10/00 |
We have snow and trails are open! |
It's looking better out on the trails as we speak.... or report. We are expecting to get 1-3 inches today with more over night. My husband, Barry, who is the trail coordinator for the Marcell Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club rode the Wilderness Willie Trail last night to pack her down, with other snowmobile enthusiasts. As of yet, there is not enough snow to groom, but it will definitely be soon.
Will keep you posted, until next time.... happy sledding and do remember to support those businesses that support the snowmobilers. |
