"THAT'S THE END OF MY TALE," AS THE MONKEY SAID WHEN HE BACKED INTO THE LAWN MOWER

This pharmaceutical sales representative had an extensive rural territory and his calls were few and far between. One day as he was driving down a lonely country road, he glanced out his side window and saw a chicken running beside him. He speeded up a bit and noticed that the chicken kept right up with him. On further examination the salesman noticed that the chicken had three legs. Suddenly the chicken picked up speed, pulled away from the salesman and headed down the road. At the next side road the chicken left the main road and headed into a farm house. The salesman couldn't believe what he had seen and the speed of this chicken, so he turned into the farm house to investigate. The farmer was in his front yard so the salesman stopped, rolled down the window and asked, "Did you see that three legged chicken?" "Oh yes," replied the farmer, "we see them all the time." "Where do they come from?" asked the salesman. "Well, I'll tell you," said the farmer, "it's a special breed of chicken that we developed ourselves. My wife, my son and I live on this farm and all three of us love to eat chicken. We each like legs the best but there's never enough to go around. So, we developed this special breed of chicken with three legs so each of us could have a leg when we have a chicken dinner." "That's fantastic," said the salesman. "How do they taste?" "We don't know," said the farmer. "We've never been able to catch one!"
