Snow!!!Hey there... we
Today is December 2, 2007. This is so cool! East of Effie we received anywhere from 10-12" of snow! Picture perfect! As a matter of fact I have taken several photos and they might be used for my Holiday Greeting cards that I send.
12/2/07
Snow!!!Not hardly!
There hasn't been a snow report because there hasn't been any snow! There's a sentence and a half. We have maybe 2" in the Effie area, with a layer of ice.
1/14/07
Snow!!!We've got snow now!
We have gotten approximately another 8-10" here (Effie) in the last couple of days. Gotta run, "keep shoveling and plowing"... until next time, which looks like Sat. for the next snowfall report. Linda

Snow!!!It's beautiful here
We've had several inches of new snow the past week or so. Our chocolate lab is having a hard time getting around the yard as we have approximately 1 1/2 to 2 feet on the level.
3/4/06
Snow!!!We're getting snow
Yeah, I know it's been awhile but there really hasn't been anything to report but rain, ice, and a little snow. But now today, as of 2:30 p.m., so far we have gotten about 3" and more is coming. It's really pretty. I'll keep ya posted. And a joyous New Year to you all. Linda
12/30/05
Snow!!!No snow, just rain.
Spring is here in the northland. Snow is a meltin', birds are a singing, and the sun is a shinin'!!
Catch ya later this Fall!

Snow!!!Got a couple of inches last week...
and they are predicting "measure--able" snow for this week. We will just have to wait and see as we all know how that can change. I'll keep ya posted.
3/15/05
Snow!!!Still Snowin'
We just got a nice dusting this morning. Now the sun is out, about 18 degrees but windchills are down there.....burrrrrr.
2/16/05
Snow!!!Lots of Snow!
It's beautiful up here in northern Minnesota! Yesterday the snow was falling so pretty it reminded me of a Christmas card cover. But then, those Christmas cards don't depict a person shoveling or plowing either! Gotta love it! We have approx. 18"+ on the level right now and we are suppose to get another 5"-10" today and into tomorrow. I'll keep ya posted.

Snow!!!Now the snow is coming!
I'm guessing we have approximately 6" to 8" on the level and we are receiving 1" or so "skiffs" here and there.
Been alot of shovelin' and plowin' goin' on. It's great!
Catch ya' later.

Snow!!!Or Maybe "Ice Report?"
Man did we get hit with rain, then sleet, then ice, then snow, then rain, then sleet, then.... need I say anymore? We got maybe a couple of inches but more is being forcasted for tomorrow and Sunday, so we will see.
We were lucky that our power stayed on for the most part in the northland.
Will keep you posted.
Linda Pigman reporting in... Happy New Year
12/31/04
Snow!!!We have some snow...
As of right now, we have a couple of inches (mainly ice after the weekend's storm) but today is suppose to be in the 30's so don't know how long it will last...until tonight they are claiming snow moving in. Will keep ya posted.
12/15/04
Snow!!!Snow and Frigid!
Snow report - 3" January 21, 2004
1/21/04
Snow!!!We
We got hit hard. It's hard to say exactly how much snow on the level we got as the winds were howling good yesterday while it was coming down. Average..., um, at least 8" here (drifts up to 2 1/2 feet), in Effie. We're trying to shovel out, the wreckers and snowplows are busy, and it's a great time to stay in doors and get caught up on the organizational tools that I have learned but haven't finished implementing yet!
More snow is forecasted for today so I will keep you updated.
11/24/03
Snow!!!We have snow...
Maybe 3" or so on the level. (After a total of about 8" last week.)
11/6/03
Snow!!!Woke up to a white covering
Yes, we woke up to the entire ground, buildings, vehicles, etc. being covered with snow but of course it all melted.
10/1/03
Snow!!!Couple of inches...
in the Effie area.
2/19/03
Snow!!!A Little Bit More...
but not much. Maybe an inch or two. Think SNOW.... please.
I'll keep ya posted.
2/6/03
Snow!!!A little skiff
Not much to report but will keep you posted.
1/11/03
Snow!!!No changes as of yet to report ...
but make sure and check back as we all know how that can change!
12/31/02
Snow!!!Slowly accumulating
It's snowing lightly and we have a couple of inches on the level. It's been a really nice winter so far.
12/01/02
Snow!!!3/9/02
We have received another 6-7" of snow giving us an approximate total of 10". It is really blowing around and drifting so it is difficult to tell. A full blown blizzard!
I will be checking in periodically... so stay tuned and thanks for dropping by!
Oh yes, we have lots more!
Snow!!!Yes...
Yes, we received around 3" yesterday/last night and it sounds as if there is more to come tonight. I will keep you posted and if you are wondering about the snowmobiling in our area, check out the navigational bar on the main page and see what the local snowmobile clubs are reporting.
Until tomorrow...
3/8/02
Snow!!!A Little and that is it
Yeah, it's white up here in the Edge of the Wilderness area, but not much of it for those of us who like to ski or snowmobile.
1/22/02
Snow!!!It's beautiful up here!
Snow and trail update. We have finally gotten the colder temps to freeze up our creeks and trails before the snow hit. Marcell Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club will start grooming next week. The trails have been prepared, removal of brush and trees, signs are up. We have approximately 7-8" of snow on the level in the Effie area as of today and it is still snowing. Until next time....think snow!
12/28/01
Snow!!!Yes, it
Houston, we have snow! It is so beautiful out right now, if it would only stay this way all winter long (well, except for a little colder temps for freezing the trails, creeks, and the loggers access roads, here in Northern Minnesota, they gotta freeze before the snow accumulates too much). Snow flakes are lofting down so peaceful, it is so calm out, now that the wind has died down a bit. We really only got several inches. Sure got all of the snowmobilers all fired up. It was fun watching them in their "want to ride" suits.....but the trails don't open until this Saturday, December 1. And, just because they are legally open, does NOT mean that they are passable. We have no control over the unfrozen creeks, just Mother Nature does, so please take precautions when riding. Have a wonderful weekend and do be safe. Until next time....Linda
11/28/01
Snow!!!YES, We had snow in May!
I had a customer visit yesterday and while we were viewing the vnw.org site, she laughed and pointed to the "Snow Report" on the navigational bar and commented....yeah right! Well, today, Tuesday, May 22, 2001 we received 1 1/2" of that heavy white stuff! Now, that was condensed, so, who knows how much we really got!
Until the next time..... snow reporter,
Linda Pigman
5/22/01
Snow!!!Great Amount is the Report!!!
Well, it's 1 o'clock in the afternoon and we are still digging/plowing our way out,(including pulling the plow truck out after getting that stuck!) We received approximately 12" overall here in Effie, from yesterday and last night's snowfall. Alot of drifting and the winds are still blowing. It's beautiful out though, to me there is nothing like a fresh bunch of snow covering everything. Anyone for making snow angels with me?

Linda Pigman reporting
2/25/01
Snow!!!More Snow....
We received approximately 1 1/2" to 2" of fresh snow (well, what other kind of snow is there really? used snow?) Had about 1/2 hour of rain first, or what people are referring to as "snizzle", (snow and freezing drizzle), and then it snowed for hours. Have an Alberta Clipper moving in and hopefully will get some more of that bright white stuff! Until next time.....
1/31/01
Snow!!!Still Gettin' Snow
Yes, we are still getting snow here and there. Just enough to keep the plow on the pickup and keep the places cleaned up. The temps have been very mild, in the 20 and 30's above. Banana belt here in the Edge of the Wilderness! Until next time....
1/24/01
Snow!!!Some Snow
Well, we received a little snow overnight. It's a heavy snow, which is the stuff we need for our trails here in the Edge of the Wilderness, approximately 1 1/2" to 2" compacted. And the forecast is for 1-3" today, so keep your fingers crossed.
1/6/01
Snow!!!Houston..... We have snow!
It's 10 a.m. and the snow is coming down, and accumulating I might add. We received a couple more inches over night. It's beautiful out. There is no wind and the flakes are lofting down, you know, the kind that you love trying to catch on your tongue and when they land on your clothes, the designs are one of a kind. It's so bright out even though it's cloudy. Wow, now it's really coming down, time to go fire up my snowmobile. Oh, by the way..... snowmobile trails are looking great! Ride safe. Radio just announced 1-3 inches for today plus more over night. Yipeeee!
12/07/00
Snow!!!Snowmobile Trails are open
Yes, the trails opened Friday, Dec. 1, 2000. As far as the conditions go for riding, there are a few things to keep in mind.
1. There is not alot of snow covering the trail system up here, nor has it been very cold, although last night it did get down to 0 degress which will help alot for freezing up those "open water areas" caused by backed up beaver dams. Freezing of those spots will take awhile, so ride with caution.
2. Without an ample snow cover on the trail system, there is the possibility of exposed tree stumps and small rocks, again, ride with caution.
3. With all of the excitement of the trails opening, there are many people "fired up" and ready to ride, again, ride with caution.
4. Keep in mind, when crossing main roadways, come to a complete stop and look both ways, like we were all taught when we were little, before crossing. Some motorists are not aware that the trails are open, and will not be thinking about a snowmobile crossing in front of them.

Happy sledding.... be safe.

Snow!!!Snow? Somewhat.
Well, reporting in from the Virtual North Snowy Woods, it's beginning to look alot like Christmas, so the song goes. To date (Monday, November 27, 2000) the ground is completely white and with the heavy fog yesterday and last night, the trees are coated beautifully with a white, sparkly layer of frost. Yes, it does appear that "Jack Frost" has visited the northland.

Snowfall so far... a couple of inches are still on the ground. Enough to go snowmobiling? Well, that is your choice but please, do remember, the trail systems for the entire State of Minnesota do not open until December 1, 2000. Alot of our trails go on property owned by private individuals and it will be considered tresspassing if you ride on the trails before the Dec. 1st date, unless you have their permission. And as always, please, ride safe.

I will continue to keep this site updated/posted with the current snow conditions for you outdoor enthusiasts, cabin owners, and travelers.
Until next time....think snow.
Linda
